Large format marble dry laying is stepping up a gear compared to conventional dry laying techniques.
In most large format marble compositions, the designer looks for impressive and high-quality aesthetic results. Therefore, the minimum number of joints and the continuation of the veins’ pattern between the different panels are fundamental factors.
What is large format marble dry laying?
It is a system to prepare the large format covering or floor which allows planning the installation in the factory so that when the pieces arrive at their destination, they are placed correctly.
If we were to compare it with the theater world, dry laying would be a dress rehearsal before the play’s premiere.
Preparation before cutting
Before reaching the perfection of the marble panels we appreciate in the picture above, the factory specialists must carry out a thorough initial approach.
The selection, measurement, cutting, and finishing of each piece will make a difference and influences the overall result. A single error can detract from the strength of the entire macro set. Therefore, the professionals who handle these premium materials must have extensive experience in working with natural stone.

During this process, the manufacturer must have one or more large open-plan buildings to extend all the panels arranged for the target project. The specialists perform the necessary corrections, and each panel receives a unique number. Finally, the entire layout is sent to its final location with the appropriate instructions and additional information.
The large surface area covered by a dry spread in large format marble can be considerable. Technicians are not always able to see the entire layut from both, a global and detailed perspective, if we did not make use of tools such as drones.
In this video, we can see the drone’s journey to examine the mega book-match composition. Each SSUC Atenea White marble panel size is 2200 mm. x 1300 mm.
