No pensaremos en los paneles sandwich de piedra de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n. M\u00e1s bien repasaremos su uso desde la prehistoria en construcciones que todav\u00eda siguen en pie. Sin embargo, si lo estudiamos en detalle, la realidad es que piedra natural es un material cuyo comportamiento mec\u00e1nico es bastante complejo de analizar. En este art\u00edculo lo explicaremos en profundidad y veremos la manera en la que podemos usar la tecnolog\u00eda para incrementar sus propiedades mec\u00e1nicas.<\/p>\n<h3>Homogeneidad, isotrop\u00eda y continuidad en la piedra natural<\/h3>\n<p>Todas las piedras tienen diferentes grados de <strong>homogeneidad, isotrop\u00eda y continuidad<\/strong>. Cuanto mejores son esos valores su comportamiento se asemejar\u00e1 en mayor medida al de un material con comportamiento el\u00e1stico (tensiones y deformaciones proporcionales, f\u00e1cilmente calculables). En cualquier caso, existen unas <strong>conclusiones<\/strong> muy evidentes que podemos destacar:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Las piedras naturales de gran resistencia tienen un <strong>elevado m\u00f3dulo el\u00e1stico<\/strong>. Esto significa que <strong>soportan grandes tensiones experimentando poca deformaci\u00f3n<\/strong>. Sin embargo, una vez <strong>agotado su recorrido el\u00e1stico, rompen<\/strong>. Fuente: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fceia.unr.edu.ar\/geologiaygeotecnia\/Elasticidad_de_rocas.pdf\">https:\/\/www.fceia.unr.edu.ar\/geologiaygeotecnia\/Elasticidad_de_rocas.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><strong>Historia de la piedra aplicada a la arquitectura <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El ser humano lleva los \u00faltimos cinco milenios buscando la forma de llevar a la piedra a su mejor forma de trabajo como material de construcci\u00f3n, atendiendo a su naturaleza mec\u00e1nica y por tanto optimizando al m\u00e1ximo su econom\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>En el art\u00edculo que publicamos sobre la <a href=\"https:\/\/stonesizepanels.com\/es\/historia-de-la-piedra-aplicada-a-la-arquitectura\">historia de la arquitectura con piedra<\/a> ya expusimos c\u00f3mo las primeras construcciones utilizaban la piedra de manera \u201cpoco optimizada\u201d como material. Hablamos de Stonhenge, donde los menires verticales funcionan sin problema a compresi\u00f3n pura, mientras que los que est\u00e1n puestos en horizontal, a modo de dintel, tienen muchas mayores limitaciones. Al funcionar como una viga biapoyada, que experimenta un momento m\u00e1ximo en el centro del vano, se est\u00e1 utilizando la piedra en el modo que m\u00e1s le cuesta trabajar, ya que tiene que hacer frente a tracciones en su parte inferior (y compresiones en la superior, pero que no le son problem\u00e1ticas). El Imperio Romano a su vez populariz\u00f3 el empleo del arco de medio punto para lograr mayores luces (haciendo trabajar a la piedra de la \u201cmejor\u201d manera, solo a compresi\u00f3n). Hablamos de c\u00f3mo en la Edad Media la arquitectura g\u00f3tica y su arco apuntado super\u00f3 a la rom\u00e1nica en cuanto a esta optimizaci\u00f3n se refiere. Finalmente, abordamos la arquitectura mediante el uso de arcos catenarios de Gaud\u00ed, que consegu\u00eda la m\u00e1xima optimizaci\u00f3n a compresi\u00f3n del arco, sin generar esfuerzos laterales que tener que contrarrestar con contrafuertes, pin\u00e1culos y arbotantes.<\/p>\n<h3>La tecnolog\u00eda de los paneles sandwich de piedra natural Stonesize<\/h3>\n<p>Nos centramos ahora en comprender c\u00f3mo la <strong>tecnolog\u00eda del \u201cs\u00e1ndwich\u201d<\/strong> que comenz\u00f3 a utilizarse ampliamente en el siglo XX supone un complemento perfecto para la piedra, ya que si bien \u00e9sta ya hab\u00eda sido optimizada al m\u00e1ximo como material monol\u00edtico trabajando como su naturaleza manda, a compresi\u00f3n, esta tecnolog\u00eda<strong> aporta a la piedra justamente lo que le falta<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ligereza<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Resistencia a tracciones<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La tecnolog\u00eda de los paneles sandwich de piedra natural, en comparaci\u00f3n con placas monol\u00edticas, <strong>consigue aumentar la rigidez de manera muy potente mediante la separaci\u00f3n de la misma masa respecto del centro de gravedad de su secci\u00f3n<\/strong>. Un buen ejemplo lo encontramos en el propio hueso que conforma la superficie de nuestro cr\u00e1neo, con estructura de s\u00e1ndwich. Para eso necesitamos el <strong>n\u00facleo del panel<\/strong>. Buscaremos que contenga la <strong>menor cantidad de material posible<\/strong> y su <strong>m\u00e1xima ligereza<\/strong>. El n\u00facleo, ante ese esfuerzo de flexi\u00f3n del panel, es qui\u00e9n debe de absorber los <strong>esfuerzos cortantes<\/strong> (cuyas tensiones son de un orden bastante inferior a las de compresi\u00f3n o tracci\u00f3n en las pieles).<\/p>\n<h4>Panales ultraligeros de piedra natural con honeycomb<\/h4>\n<p>El nuestro ser\u00e1 un n\u00facleo de <a href=\"https:\/\/stonesizepanels.com\/es\/que-es-honeycomb\">honeycomb de aluminio<\/a>. El uso de esta geometr\u00eda no es casual, ya que el hex\u00e1gono es la <strong>mejor forma geom\u00e9trica para dividir un \u00e1rea en celdas iguales con el menor per\u00edmetro posible<\/strong>. Ello implica el menor uso de material y alcanzar por tanto la m\u00e1xima ligereza y econom\u00eda.
